Two American Tunes (arr. Timo Jarvela) for String Orchestra

My Grandfather's Clock is an endearing song written by the American Henry Clay Work in 1876. It tells the story of a large clock that was bought the day the grandfather was born, and which didn't miss a beat until the day the grandfather died 90 years later. That's when the clock finally stopped! The wood block part provides the sound of a clock, but is not essential to perform the piece.

Old Joe Clark is an old American folk song, famous for its many verses of 'silly' lyrics. Based on the mixolydian mode, this tune is still popular with fiddlers and other folk/bluegrass musicians.
